The members of the Somers Point Police Department dedicate ourselves to ensuring the public health, safety and welfare and to continually strive to improve the quality of life within our community. We will always perform in the public interest and endeavor to meet their expectations by not tolerating or accepting anything short of hard, aggressive police work. Citizens demand the most from their police departments. They want well trained, educated and unbiased police officers on the street who are as aggressive as the law allows, caring, courteous and friendly. They want strong supervisors and strong leaders to keep the separation between civilization and anarchy. To accept less from our members is to invite turbulent times ahead. It is of paramount importance that we secure the confidence, respect and cooperation of the public. The police profession must embody the highest attributes of every other profession. Not private profit, nor personal reward, but the service of the community is the earmark of the professional police officer. As we move forward we are reminded of the words of Theodore Roosevelt. 'This country will not be a good place for any of us to live in , unless we make it a good place for all of us to live in" Lest we never forget that the success of the Somers Point Police Department in the performance of its duties is largely measured by the degree of support and cooperation it receives from the people which it serves.
