Notice of Bay Avenue Planning Grant Public Information Meeting
The City of Somers Point has received a FEMA Flood mitigation assistance planning grant for flood mitigation along the entire length of Bay Avenue. The projects scope of work includes
1. A topographic survey to include locating existing roadway features and elevations, storm sewer piping, drainage structures, bulkheads, and drainage boundary limits.
2. Televised Video Inspection of the existing storm sewer system along Bay Avenue from the outfall to Shore Road.
3. Hydraulic analysis of the existing storm sewer system.
4. Identify potential stormwater pump station locations including design and pumps sizing.
5. Design recommendations for improvements, conceptual engineering site plans, consultation with permitting agencies and an engineer’s opinion of probable construction costs. The engineering design will include all necessary analysis and reports to support the future flood mitigation project.
The project also requires community outreach hearings to present the design options seeking to gain input from residents, local officials, community members, and key stakeholders.
Public input on this project will be received during the regularly scheduled Environmental Commission Meeting on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 6PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
