The Tax Assessor is responsible for the appraisal of real estate for tax purposes and is the person to notify if there is a question about your assessment. If there are any improvements made to your property, the Assessor will be out to determine if there will be an increase in the assessment and potential tax liability. If your property has sustained major damage from fire/hurricane etc. or has been demolished, you must inform the Assessor in writing and by Statute the Assessment will be adjusted in the future year.

Contact the Assessment Office about any change or corrections to the information on your mailing address, since this office is responsible for assigning the proper 9-1-1 addresses for emergency response purposes. The Assessor and the Assessing Clerk will assist in the filing of applications for senior, disabled and veteran tax deductions and 100% disabled veteran exemption applications. This office also provides copies of tax maps, sales data information and general information about taxation in Somers Point.
